Lesson Idea | Springtime Treasure Hunt
A communication/oral language game for 2 or more players
This treasure hunt game can be used by teachers or parents of children from 2nd-6th Class.
• You need a minimum of 2 players for this game.
• Print out a copy of the grid on page 2 for each player. (if you don’t have a printer, you can draw two grids as on page 2).
• Each player must hide their Easter items in different boxes on the grid on page 2.
• Each player has 5 Easter Eggs, 3 Chicks and 3 Bunnies to “hide”. Do not let your partner see your sheet.
• Prepare by naming some of the small squares in the grid e.g. E4, B2. Highlight that the
letter comes first.
Instructions
1. Mark “E” in five squares of the grid; this is where you have hidden your eggs.
2. Mark “C” in three squares of the grid; this is where you have hidden your chicks.
3. Mark “B” in three squares of the grid; this is where you have hidden your bunnies.
4. Ask questions, one at a time to find where your partner has hidden their treasure e.g. “Is there anything in B7?”.
5. If the answer is “No”, your partner can ask you a question; if the answer is “Yes”, you win points for the treasure.
6. Put a big X though it when a square has been guessed properly.
7. The winner is the first person who has guessed where all their partner’s treasure is.
