Description

This activity helps students understand how parachutes work to slow down falling objects. Students learn that parachutes are used to land things safely, like spacecraft. Working in teams, they design and build a simple parachute using basic materials. They test how well their parachute works by dropping it from a high place and timing how long it takes to land. Then, they improve their design and test again. Through this process, students explore how different shapes and materials affect how slowly and safely an object falls.
