Lesson Idea | Introduction to Plants

Description

This introductory lesson helps young students explore the basic structure and life cycle of plants through reading, discussion, and hands-on activities. Using the book Tops and Bottoms, students identify different types of plants and where they grow (top, middle, or root). They learn the main parts of a plant—roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits—and understand their functions, as well as the stages of a plant’s life cycle. Through activities like building a plant puzzle and labeling diagrams, students actively reinforce their learning. Assessment is done through an exit ticket where students draw and label plant parts and show their understanding of the plant life cycle.
