Description
Students will explore how different types of light affect a glow-in-the-dark material in this experiment. They will use glow-in-the-dark vinyl, a UV LED, batteries, a CD, and a flashlight to investigate colors of light that are not usually visible. During the activity, students will observe how ultraviolet light causes the glow-in-the-dark material to glow brightly. They will use their observations to explore the relationship between different types of light and the glow produced by the material. Through this experiment, students will understand that there are colors of light beyond what we can see.
