Description
This lesson introduces students to the concepts of edible and non-edible items through reading, discussion, and hands-on exploration. Using the story Gregory, the Terrible Eater, students learn to distinguish between things that can and cannot be eaten. They brainstorm and sort examples, then apply their understanding during a garden activity where they collect and categorize real objects. Through discussions and charting, students connect these ideas to caring for a garden and making decisions about it. The lesson builds vocabulary, observation skills, and early critical thinking about food, environments, and responsibility.
