Description
Students learn how compound words are formed by combining two smaller words to create a new word with a related meaning. After exploring examples of compound words, students create their own imaginative compound word inventions or creatures by combining random nouns, then design advertisements with drawings and persuasive descriptions to explain and “sell” their creations. Through writing, discussion, and art, students strengthen grammar, vocabulary, creativity, and persuasive language skills.
