Lesson Idea | Binary Basics

Engage young students with a lesson designed to introduce the fascinating world of binary numbers. This lesson provides a foundational understanding of how binary numbers work and their significance in computing. Students will participate in a team-based engineering challenge that promotes discipline and teamwork. Contributed by IEEE Member Dave Hepburn from IEEE Canada, the lesson includes detailed instructions, background concepts, and curriculum alignment. Required materials are minimal, consisting of 10 sheets of blank paper and 5 chairs. Students will complete six activities and one final challenge using only the provided materials.
