Movement game Sentence-mates is a game in which grade 3 (and grade 4) students practice reading and making longer sentences (+/- 6 words). In this game, they read (part of) a sentence and look for their 'sentence-mate', with whom they form a longer sentence (e.g. My grandfather is carpentry - a big loft.). Walk around the classroom and when you meet your sentence-mate, write down the long sentence. This game consists of 50 cards, the back of which is also printed, so 100 (!) sentence parts in this game.

Variation on this game: In this active tapping game, all students receive a card. Two balls are brought into play that all players can throw someone off with (someone's it, no one's it). When a player is thrown off, he/she goes to the side of the field. Players there look for another player who is also 'off ' and read his/her sentence. Then they come up with a longer sentence that includes this bit (e.g. 'My brother is playing', 'with his friend'.). The other player also does this the other way around. If they manage to come up with a longer sentence, they name it out loud to the teacher (game leader) and those players are free again. They turn over their card (on the back is another sentence) and rejoin the game.

You prefer to play this game on the (school) square, or in the gymnasium so there is enough room for the players to move around.

Dimensions: 10 x 7 x 2.5 cm(3.94 × 2.76 × 0.98 inches).
