Game | Responsible Reservoirs

Responsible Reservoirs is an interactive environmental science activity for ages 10+ that explores the complex cause-and-effect relationships of human decisions on the environment. Through a game-based scenario, students compare the impacts of a hydroelectric dam versus no dam, using decomposition and computational thinking to track outcomes. With simple materials like tokens, score sheets, and scenario cards, learners examine trade-offs between energy, environment, and community needs, ultimately deciding: dam or no dam? This activity takes about 20 minutes and helps students understand human-environment interactions while practicing critical thinking.
