Game | Jump (With) Your Mate

Jump (with) your measure is an exercise game in which grade 7 and 8 students in pairs practice the metric system, specifically converting length measures. Before the game starts, each pair draws a “ladder of measures” (mm, cm, dm, m, dam, hm, km) on the square/sidewalk with sidewalk chalk.

Each pair is then given a stack of cards, this number depends on the group size (game contains 50 cards). Player 1 of each pair reads the length measure aloud. Player 2 stands on the measure step by this measure. Then player 1 names the unit into which the length measure is to be converted. Player 2 jumps to that measure and mentions aloud which intermediate steps he makes. The first player checks the answer (is on the back of the card). Switch roles after 3 sums. 
When the cards “run out,” the pair swap cards with another pair.
