Jump the Halves out of the Fractions is a Movement game in which students in grades 7 and 8, in pairs, practice simplifying fractions, they have to get the “halves” out. Before the game starts, each pair draws the numbers 1 through 10 on the square with sidewalk chalk.
Each pair is then given a stack of cards, this number depends on the group size (game contains 50 cards). Player 1 stands in front of the number line, player 2 stands next to it and reads out the fraction. Player 1 jumps to the number of helices in the fraction. During this jumping, the fraction is spoken aloud. This game is self-correcting, the answer is on the back of the card.
Switch roles after 3 sums.
When the cards “run out,” the pair swap cards with another pair.
Dimensions: 10 x 7 x 2.5 cm(3.94 × 2.76 × 0.98 inches).
