She went on to take teaching and senior leadership roles in London schools, before joining the Lewisham Early Years Advisory team in South London. Description

This high impact course will be delivered in three bite-sized episodes (each around 15 minutes long). It contains a clearly explained and highly practical approach to the power of play with children. It is appropriate for early years classroom teachers, and is equally beneficial if working as a teaching assistant.

Expect an honest appraisal of the strategies and techniques that are effective in understanding the need for the physical environment in children.

The course is fully practical, designed to equip staff with a range of effective interventions to use with students when supporting them as a teacher.

Course Outline

• The importance of the physical environment: indoors vs. outdoors
• How to promote independence in children using play through resources and opportunities we provide
• Study of developmental areas through clips of play
• Research associated with outdoor play
• Interview with Kathryn Solly, Specialist Early Years Speaker
• Noticing what children love and understanding what you want them to learn
• Ideas for planned play with children
