Course Overview

As an educator, you’re always striving to engage all of your students in every lesson, but with the diverse learning needs in the classroom, you may find that some students need more time and support, while others pick things up very quickly. So, how do you ensure that every student feels challenged, and motivated and is truly learning?

This is where differentiated learning comes in – not just as a method, but as a strategy for success. For a number of years, there has been a focus on differentiation of learning to support students at the lower end of the learning spectrum. However, at the other end of this spectrum are gifted students who are also outliers in the classroom – with differing educational needs that require a different approach to make classroom learning effective.

In this course, you’ll explore the key principles of differentiated learning, you’ll also receive a foundational strategic framework to help you create lessons that engage students of all abilities with a focus on gifted students. Think of it as a toolkit to help you plan, implement, and refine your teaching, so every student has the chance to thrive.

What Will I Learn in This Course?

By the end of this course, you’ll develop an understanding of:
- The possible benefits of differentiated learning for gifted students.
- The maker model for foundational differentiation.
- How to adapt learning plans using differentiation.
- The factors to be considered when implementing differentiated learning in your classroom.
- The difference between informed and generic differentiation.
