Matthew Evans, M.Ed with a focus on Educational Technology, authorized Google Education Trainer, is an experienced educator, currently teaching prospective educators how to integrate technology in their curriculum at the University of San Diego. He has served as an Educational Technology Specialist, coordinated, developed curriculum, and led professional development workshops in multiple settings. He consults with schools and districts on the implementation of Google Apps for Education (GAFE), training teachers and staff on how to use GAFE to its fullest potential. Additionally, Matthew works with various educational technology companies to help them bring their product to market and develop sales.
Jump Start Your Teaching and Student Learning With the Basic G Suite Tools - Designed for Quick Learning
This course will introduce educators to basic Google tools to help them become more comfortable and confident to effectively and efficiently implement Google tools to maximize student learning in the classroom. Educators will be able to immediately implement what they have learned with their students.
Who Should Attend: This course is designed for both elementary and secondary level teachers who are new to Google's Suite of applications and want to learn how to effectively and efficiently add them into their teaching practice to enhance student learning. This is ideal for those transitioning from traditional to remote teaching and learning; as well as returning back to the classroom.
Required Materials: There are no textbook requirements for this course. A Google account and Google Chrome web browser are necessary to successfully complete this course.
What You Will Learn
- Organize, effectively and efficiently, their Google Drive
- Create and share Google Docs
- Create and Utilize Google Drawing to create an infographic
- Create and utilize Google Forms for simple student surveys and quizzes
- Utilize Google Calendar to create events and invite others to those events
- Use Google Meet, via Google Calendar, to provide remote learning opportunities that could be recorded for future learning and teaching purposes
- Utilize Screencastify (Google Chrome extension) to create screencasts for student learning
- Create assignment examples that will inspire student learning
