Course | Internal Cultural Coordinator

Target group: Teachers and employees from primary education, pedagogical coaches from VE institutions, employees of community centres with cultural offerings.
Date: From September 2025.
Duration: 8 meetings of 2.5 hours (2:00 PM - 4:30 PM).
Count on approximately 25 to 30 hours for self-study.
In addition, there are 4 contact hours with the cultural coach from CultuurSchakel. This person guides and supports the student at the start and during the course and afterwards at the start of the new season.
Location: In the Koorenhuis, Prinsegracht 27 in The Hague.
Costs: € 235 per participant (incl. handouts and a certificate).
Cancellation: Cancellation up to two weeks before the course is free of charge, after that you are obliged to pay.

Introduction

Internal cultural coordinators (icc’ers) are passionate teachers who have an affinity with art and culture. The icc’er is indispensable to give art and culture a permanent place in the school curriculum and/or the organization.

CultuurSchakel also offers a course in the 2024/2025 school year that trains to become an Internal Cultural Coordinator. This course was developed by the National Knowledge Institute for Cultural Education and Amateur Art (LKCA). CultuurSchakel has expanded this course with specific information about cultural education in The Hague.

Program

Within the course, the student writes a cultural plan or works out part of an existing cultural plan for his/her school. By means of assignments and working methods, the student obtains input from the team and works on support within the school, because you cannot provide good cultural education alone.

Themes: Vision and policy, Anchoring, The cultural field, Theory and practice.
The following components are discussed:
Developing a vision on cultural education.
Gaining knowledge, insight and inspiration in the field of cultural education with specific attention to the situation in The Hague and the cultural institutions in The Hague.
Strengthening competencies such as systematic thinking, communicating, collaborating and coordinating.
Step-by-step writing of a plan for cultural education with a multi-year plan and an annual plan.
The course is given by icc trainers from CultuurSchakel.

Result

At the end of the course, the school/organization will have a cultural plan. In it, the school/organization describes its vision, ambitions and concrete activities.
Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will receive the nationally recognized ICC certificate.

Particulars

Maximum number of participants: 15.
For teams with more than 24 team members, it is advisable that two team members follow the course.
The course will be festively concluded with a presentation of the cultural plan and the presentation of the certificates in the presence of colleagues and the school management.
