Jen Fagan Simonsen is an experienced educator with over 20 years in early childhood education, specializing in outdoor learning and nature-based pedagogy. She has worked in various European countries, including Denmark, the Czech Republic, and Spain, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from INHOLLAND University.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jen observed positive changes in her Early Years class during outdoor learning sessions. Inspired by this experience, she transitioned to working in a Danish forest kindergarten, which led her to develop an outdoor play curriculum and start a bilingual outdoor daycare.
Jen later moved to Jutland, where she became the Head of Kindergarten at an international school and founded INTO the OUT dk, a company dedicated to supporting outdoor learning through play. She also published OUT! Nature Journal for children and runs workshops for educators around the world.
Her mission is to reimagine how we connect with nature, promoting environmental stewardship, personal growth, and solutions to challenges like climate change and mental health. Through her work, Jen continues to inspire educators and communities to embrace outdoor learning.
