(12 Hours) This course will cover the values (both social-emotional and academic) of building strong home-to-school connections. Participants will learn strategies for building connections and keeping parents engaged, with a focus on clear, frequent, and positive communication. The course will also discuss how to address many of the challenges teachers may face from seemingly disengaged families.

What You Will Learn

Family engagement is the process of making purposeful home-to-school connections so that family members play an active role in their child’s education. In this course, you will learn the value of building strong home-to-school connections. You will also learn numerous strategies to keep families engaged in their child’s education and strategies to encourage open, effective, and positive communication with families. Finally, you will learn how to address the challenges you may face from seemingly disengaged families. In addition to the presentations included with this course, you will also be provided with dozens of resources, templates, and ready-to-use parent communication tools to help you establish better engagement with your students’ families.
