The Designated Teacher’s Development and Training Edition: Understanding and Working with Different Attachment Styles course is specifically written to support Designated Teachers embed and develop Attachment Awareness and Trauma Informed practice in their work with looked-after and previously looked-after children in school.
Throughout it references the DfE The Designated Teacher for Looked-After and Previously Looked-After Children: Statutory guidance on their roles and responsibilities (2018), to support Designated Teachers have access to the latest research and up-to-date on the adverse impact of insecure attachment on a pupil’s ability to learn and develop, and what constitutes good attachment aware and trauma informed practice.
The course addresses key aspects of attachment from the varying perspectives of the different groupings within a school community - the pupils themselves, staff, parents & carers, and allied professionals. It also provides multiple Training Ideas, which Designated Teachers can use to support their colleagues to develop their awareness and practice so that the whole school community becomes attachment aware and better able to flexibly differentiate work with both the needs of sometimes challenging behaviour of looked-after and previously looked-after pupils in the most effective way. The course is highly interactive, thought-provoking and engaging.
The course also includes quizzes and assessment tools which can be used for ‘before’ and ‘after’ snapshot to help evidence learning, as well as photocopiable material.
