Description

Understand the Power of Human Connection with Attachment Theory.
Relationships are at the heart of the human experience. The emotional bonds we form shape how we connect, communicate, and relate to others—often in ways we don’t even realise. Have you ever wondered why you respond the way you do in relationships? Or why some people thrive in situations that others find challenging?

What Will You Learn?

You’ll begin by exploring the foundations of attachment theory, including the work of key thinkers such as John Bowlby and Erik Erikson, who built on the ideas of Freud. Together, we’ll look at the early stages of attachment and how these emotional bonds shape our development.
As the course progresses, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the four main attachment styles—secure, avoidant, ambivalent, and disorganised. You’ll learn how each style presents itself in infancy, childhood, and adulthood, and how these patterns can influence the way we connect with others throughout life.

You’ll also explore how attachment theory can be applied in real-life situations, particularly in areas like emotional coaching for children, and understanding the traits and behaviours of adults based on their attachment style.

To ensure a balanced perspective, you’ll also look at some of the common criticisms and limitations of attachment theory. And finally, we’ll consider how this theory can still be an incredibly helpful tool for teachers, mental health professionals, and those working in conflict resolution or caregiving roles.

Whether you’re interested in psychology, personal growth, or supporting others, this course offers valuable insights to help you better understand yourself and those around you.

This course counts towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD), making it a meaningful addition to your ongoing learning journey.

By studying this course, you will:
Understand attachment theory
Learn about the stages of attachment
Explore the various types of attachment
Learn about the attachment styles of children and adults
