Description
The AI for K–12 Education Professionals certificate provides teachers and instructional staff with a comprehensive foundation in artificial intelligence and its responsible use across today’s learning environments. Through two connected microcourses, participants first build essential understanding of core and generative AI concepts, including how models learn, how prompts shape outputs, and how to navigate ethical, legal, and equity-focused considerations in school settings.
Learners then apply these concepts to real-world educational practice—using AI to enhance lesson planning, differentiation, assessment, communication, documentation, and workflow efficiency while supporting student engagement and learning outcomes. Throughout the program, educators explore emerging innovations and develop strategies for continuous learning to stay current in an evolving digital landscape. Graduates of this certificate will be prepared to use AI tools confidently, ethically, and effectively to enrich teaching practice and promote high-quality learning for all students.
Learners are responsible for consulting with the appropriate licensing, credentialing, or certifying authority, local school district, employer, or other organization to determine whether a course will be accepted by that organization. Walden does not guarantee acceptance by any third party for any specific purpose.
