Haley O’Connor shares some ideas for teaching students how to be leaders! Each day, teachers hope that they teach their students how to be kind, how to have courage, and how to be a great friend. Teaching them to be LEADERS means that they show kindness and courage even when no one else will! Leaders stand up for others and stay true to what they believe in.

Haley has caught herself saying “Be a leader” or “Don’t do something just because your friends are!” But taking the time to really discuss this with her students has made all the difference! Haley has a few lessons in her Leadership pack as well as some picture book recommendations she wanted to share with you!

Like each of her character packs, Haley breaks the unit into 4 lessons. In Haley’s classroom, their character lessons were usually about 20-30 minutes so they typically do a classroom discussion and then a quick reflection activity.
