Connection

Yolanda van Hoorn, a Cesar exercise therapist and founder of the ‘Zit met Pit!’ lesson programme, noticed during workshops that schools were keen to get started with active learning, but found it difficult to maintain that energy after the training. To continue inspiring schools after the training, she founded the online platform Wieblie at the beginning of 2020.

Pulling out all the stops

Through his company, Mark Blijleven also responds to dynamic teaching methods in primary education by means of interactive learning resources. A collaboration was therefore the logical next step. Both parties see how primary schools are struggling with a lack of time and the highly fragmented range of offerings. Together, Wieblie is addressing these challenges.

“Our platform is still intended to inspire, but by now we are going much further than that,” Yolanda explains enthusiastically. “Schools are completely relieved of the burden in the field of active learning. From ready-to-use lessons to a practical Active Learning workshop, or a complete tailor-made implementation programme. To begin with, we assess the wishes and possibilities. A process facilitator then gets to work with the team on a detailed action plan, tailored to that school. Support and continuity are guaranteed through our nationwide network of exercise coaches. This means we can serve every school in the Netherlands. Working together is a way to increase our impact and get all Dutch primary school children moving.”
