Well-being and learning cannot be viewed separately. Students develop and learn better when they feel good about themselves. And conversely: receiving a good education and experiencing success during their programme helps students feel better about themselves.
Getting started with the roadmap
The roadmap shows how to work continuously on well-being in a way that suits your school location(s). The starting point is a strong team, a clear picture of the current situation and a shared vision for the future. On this basis, you create a plan for the entire school location, addressing all levels within and around the school, with various activities and interventions that complement one another.
At each step, the roadmap refers you to useful tools and tips, such as the Support Pyramid for mapping activities relating to well-being. The new MBO roadmap is available as a free download.
Collaboration between national partners
The roadmap grew out of previously published ‘practice cards’ from the National Education Programme. It was developed together with professionals from the field through the Well-being Coalition (Netherlands Youth Institute, Trimbos Institute, Pharos, the Netherlands Centre for Youth Health, the school psychologists section of the Netherlands Institute of Psychologists and Healthy School). The roadmap has been incorporated into the range of tools offered by Well-being at School. It corresponds to the steps of the Healthy School approach, but focuses on the theme of well-being. Well-being at School (a collaboration between Trimbos and Pharos) is a knowledge partner of Healthy School. Healthy School puts the knowledge of Well-being at School into practice through the Healthy School approach.
