Week of Love in 2021 focuses on ‘Love online’

From 8 to 12 February 2021 (the week before Valentine’s Day), Rutgers and Soa Aids Nederland are organising the project week ‘Week of Love’. During the Week of Love, schools in secondary education, practical education, secondary special education and vocational education teach lessons on relationships and sexuality. Webinars, training sessions and practical information about recognised teaching programmes help teachers get started. The Week of Love is a collaboration with the municipal public health services (GGD).

Theme 2021: Love online

The theme of the 2021 Week of Love is: Love online. Young people are increasingly flirting and dating online. What do they do online when it comes to relationships and sex? This week gives teachers tools to address this during their lessons.

Webinar and training sessions

On Wednesday 10 February from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Rutgers and Soa Aids Nederland, in collaboration with Bureau Jeugd & Media, are holding a webinar for teachers on the theme ‘Love online’. This webinar covers topics such as sexting, grooming and online dating. More information about the free webinar can be found at www.weekvandeliefde.nl, where teachers can also register. This website also features a number of online training courses that can already be taken free of charge in preparation for the Week of Love.

If schools would like to participate in the Week of Love, they can complete the registration form at www.seksuelevorming.nl/aanmeldformulierweekvandeliefde. Schools will receive posters to decorate the school and a digital banner for their website.

Our Food Week

From 3 to 10 October 2026, it is Our Food Week. A great opportunity to focus with your class at primary school on where our food comes from, how it is made and why healthy and sustainable choices are important. Food education allows pupils not only to learn, but especially to experience. That is why various organisations are joining forces to support schools with inspiring activities, teaching materials and practical tools. Examples include the Mayors’ Breakfast, a free visit to a farm, or shopping vouchers for cooking in the classroom.
