In the Algemeen Dagblad, experts state that it is urgently necessary for schools to improve their ventilation. The RIVM advises schools to ventilate but does not call for improvements to ventilation. Underlying this is the discussion about the role aerosols play in the spread of the virus.
The VO Council believes that clarity must be provided on this matter. Chairman Paul Rosenmöller: “There is debate among scientists about the importance of ventilation in preventing the spread of the coronavirus. Schools need clarity, which is why we want advice from the OMT on this matter. At the start of the new school year, it must be known when this advice will be available.”
Until then, it is important that schools ventilate as much as possible within the existing possibilities.
This topic was also addressed in the NOS news broadcast of 6 August (featuring VO Council chairman Paul Rosenmöller). The fragment starts after 1 minute and 40 seconds.
