The parade was ceremonially opened by Heleen Schuit-van Raamsdonk, the project manager of the Healthy School Canteen programme. She thanked the schools for their efforts and their contribution to helping younger generations grow up healthier. After Heleen, Roel Hermans spoke. As a behavioural expert at the Netherlands Nutrition Centre, Roel gave a mini-lecture on making the food environment healthier for young people.

Then the parade really began: the School Canteen Brigadiers congratulated each of the schools that had earned a shield in their region. The shields were unpacked live and held triumphantly in the air.

Lieke, HPC Charlois: ‘’We thought it was great. Very well organised! And we are incredibly happy with our gold shield. It is already proudly displayed next to the previous one!’’
