Virtual School Canteen Scale ceremony on 12 November

On Thursday 12 November from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m., the Healthy School Canteen of the Netherlands Nutrition Centre is organising a virtual School Canteen Scale ceremony. During this online meeting, the Healthy School Canteen will present the first School Canteen Scales of this school year! The Healthy School Canteen will put the schools in the spotlight, and schools will receive a surprise by post beforehand.

Would you also like to attend this meeting? Here’s how to take part:

Register by emailing the coordinator in your province.
Complete the new Canteen Scan for this school year and check whether your canteen meets the bronze, silver, gold or ideal level.
Do you not yet meet one of the levels? Make the necessary adjustments. You can, of course, ask the coordinator in your province for help with this.
Request the new School Canteen Scale in the Canteen Scan by 30 October at the latest.
Do you meet one of the levels? Great news! You will receive an invitation from the Healthy School Canteen to the virtual Scale presentation. The Healthy School Canteen will also ask you to send in a photo of the canteen or the team, as well as the address to which the Healthy School Canteen may send the Scale.
During the virtual Scale ceremony and later in the newsletter, the Healthy School Canteen will mention all participating schools. The Healthy School Canteen would, of course, also appreciate it if you devoted a message to this, for example in the school newsletter or on the school’s website.

Our Food Week

From 3 to 10 October 2026, it is Our Food Week. A great opportunity to focus with your class at primary school on where our food comes from, how it is made and why healthy and sustainable choices are important. Food education allows pupils not only to learn, but especially to experience. That is why various organisations are joining forces to support schools with inspiring activities, teaching materials and practical tools. Examples include the Mayors’ Breakfast, a free visit to a farm, or shopping vouchers for cooking in the classroom.

Then put tap water in the spotlight with your class as a healthy and sustainable thirst quencher during National Tap Water Day on Wednesday 30 September. This way, your pupils will discover why tap water is healthy and how to turn it into a festive drink!
