The ‘Together for the child’ toolkit was developed in collaboration with Ouders en Onderwijs and Balans. The toolkit helps parents and schools engage in dialogue. Every day, parents, education professionals and youth care professionals do their utmost for children. Ideally, caregivers and co-caregivers work together as much as possible, because you need one another to support a child as effectively as possible. But how do you work together? How do you ensure that everyone feels heard? How do you continue to listen carefully to one another? And how do you create a safe environment together in which everyone dares to be vulnerable?

How does the Toolkit work?

The ‘Together for the child’ toolkit helps address these questions. Parents and professionals engage in dialogue with one another using eight cartoons. This enables them to better understand the other person’s perspective and interests, and makes mutual expectations clear. The key is not to let it end with a single conversation, but to ensure that the conversation becomes the driving force behind good collaboration, in the child’s best interests.
