Next, follow these steps:

  • Complete the Canteen Scan.
  • Are you not yet meeting one of the levels? Make the necessary changes. You can of course ask the brigade officer from your province for help with this.
  • Make sure you have applied for the new School Canteen Award via the Canteen Scan by 9 April at the latest.
  • The brigade officer checks whether your award application is correct.
  • Do you meet the silver, gold or ideal level? Great news! The Healthy School Canteen will send you an invitation to the virtual award ceremony. The Healthy School Canteen will also ask you to send 1 or 2 photos (to the brigade officer) of the canteen and/or the team, as well as the address to which the Healthy School Canteen may send the award and a surprise.

The Healthy School Canteen will mention all schools taking part in the award ceremony on its website and in its newsletter. Naturally, the Healthy School Canteen would also be pleased if you dedicated a message to this, for example in the school's newsletter and on its website.

Looking back at the award ceremony on 4 February

On Thursday afternoon, 4 February, the second virtual award ceremony took place! The School Canteen Brigade presented no fewer than 28 School Canteen Awards.

Project leader Heleen Schuit-van Raamsdonk kicked off the ceremony. She thanked the schools for their commitment and their contribution to helping younger generations grow up healthier. Roel Hermans then took the floor. As a behavioural expert at the Netherlands Nutrition Centre, Roel Hermans gave a mini-lecture on making the food environment healthier for young people.

Then the real ceremony began: the School Canteen Brigade officers congratulated each of the schools in their region that had earned an award. The awards were unwrapped live and held triumphantly in the air. At many schools, the canteen had been festively decorated and students were present at the ceremony.
