Which subsidies are available?
Green schoolyards come in all shapes and sizes. The costs will therefore vary depending on the requirements, the design and the original condition of the playground. Fortunately, there are various subsidies you can apply for to help finance this.
You can apply for a subsidy from the province of Utrecht in 2 different ways. You can apply for a voucher for a fixed amount of 15,000 euros. The other option is to apply for a higher amount. For this, you must submit additional documents, such as a balanced budget and a detailed project plan. In this case, you can receive a subsidy for 50% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of 50,000 euros.
Good to know: is your school located in a yellow area on the map ‘paved neighbourhoods and low-SES neighbourhoods’? Then you can receive more subsidy! A voucher is then worth 20,000 euros, or you can receive a subsidy for 75% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of 75,000 euros. You can cover the remaining costs with other subsidies.
On the finance and subsidies page, you will find an overview of schemes that you can use to green your schoolyard. In addition to the provincial scheme, local subsidies are often also available from municipalities and water authorities.
Be extra well prepared with a preliminary consultation
Would you like to use one of the two options under the provincial subsidy scheme? Then our tip is: schedule a preliminary consultation!
During the preliminary consultation, you will speak with an employee of the province’s subsidy team. In approximately 30 minutes, you will discuss the project plan and the subsidy conditions together. Because the employee is very familiar with the criteria of the subsidy scheme, they can give you useful tips. This way, you will immediately know whether any information is still missing. Even if you do not yet have a concrete plan, it is useful to schedule a preliminary consultation to discuss the criteria that the application must meet.
You can register for a preliminary consultation by sending an email to [email protected]. Do you already have a project plan, design and/or management plan? Then attach it to your email so that you can receive targeted feedback!
