The aim of the thematic fund is to help 50 schools create a green-blue playground within three years. Primary schools in Zuid-Holland can apply for a contribution of €1,000 to €15,000 via the fast-track application portal. The condition is that the schools themselves also invest at least half of the costs of the sustainable playground.
Green play environment and outdoor lessons
A green-blue school playground not only provides a wonderful play environment, but also gives teachers the opportunity to organise outdoor lessons. Children come into contact with nature, which benefits their concentration and physical activity. Green school playgrounds also contribute to water storage and have a positive effect on biodiversity.
The thematic fund will initially run for three years. €190,000 is available for 2019 and 2020, and €240,000 for 2021. Applications for funding will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. More information about the conditions is available at www.cultuurfonds.nl/zuidholland/aanvragenZuid-Holland.
Greener Zuid-Holland
The incentive scheme is part of a policy to invest in a healthy and attractive living environment. Climate change, land subsidence, declining biodiversity, the energy transition and lifestyle diseases are issues that affect all residents. The province is working with social partners such as the Culture Fund to make Zuid-Holland greener.
