Het Hooghuis has been a Healthy School for many years. This means that students are made aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle from a young age. The national Healthy School guidelines serve as a guiding principle. The Healthy School approach focuses on the themes of ‘Nutrition’, ‘Exercise and sport’, and ‘Smoking, alcohol and drug prevention’. For various projects, Het Hooghuis works together with the Sport Expertise Centrum (SEC) and GGD Hart voor Brabant.

Varied programme

The afternoon was opened by Ingrid Jansen, ambassador for Jongeren Op Gezond Gewicht. She presented the programme, in which Marnetta van Raak and Jan van Vucht explained the Healthy School initiative on behalf of Het Hooghuis. Next, Anouk Hoogendijk, a former football player for the Dutch national team, shared a personal story about her career as an elite athlete, the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and her time in secondary education. There were also performances by Bobbi Eveleens and the school band.

Vlog competition

Of the submitted vlogs, the vlog by Janne Schulte, Nikky Stassar, Kris Delissen, Tessa Verbruggen and Feikje van Dijk was selected as the winner. In their vlog, the students from Mondriaan College suggested specific improvements. For example, they would like more greenery in the schoolyards and more space to exercise. In the coming period, Het Hooghuis will consider whether it can meet the students’ wishes. The prizes—tickets to Efteling—were presented by Anouk Hoogendijk.
