Drinking enough water contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Nowhere in the world is the quality of drinking water as high as it is in the Netherlands. To raise children's awareness of this and explain why drinking tap water is a healthy and sustainable choice, the ten Dutch drinking water companies (Brabant Water, Dunea, Evides, Oasen, PWN, Vitens, Waterbedrijf Groningen, Waternet, WMD and WML) are jointly organising National Tap Water Day.
For primary schools and out-of-school care
All primary schools and out-of-school care centres can participate in National Tap Water Day and make use of the free educational materials. The materials are offered at three levels: groups 1–3, groups 4–6 and groups 7–8. This year, the educational materials focus on drinking tap water and exercise.
Guest lesson by a water expert
By registering your class or out-of-school care group, you have a chance to win a guest lesson from a water expert or water dumbbells that you can use during the energiser.
Tap Waterproof certificate
If your school or out-of-school care centre also drinks tap water on one fixed day of the week after National Tap Water Day, complete the Tap Waterproof certificate here before 1 November 2021. With the certificate, you officially declare that you drink tap water at least one day a week and that your school or out-of-school care centre is Tap Waterproof.
You can register for Tap Water Day on 22 September 2021 here.
