School campaign ‘4vuurwerkveilig’ launched

The end of the year is approaching once again. This also means the setting off of fireworks, which is part of our New Year’s tradition. During the New Year’s celebrations, fireworks cause many serious injuries in a short period of time. To make children aware of the dangers of fireworks and encourage safe behavior, VeiligheidNL has been offering the free 4vuurwerkveilig educational package since 2015. The educational package for primary school years 7–8 has been optimized this year and is now available to request free of charge via www.4vuurwerkveilig.nl.

School campaign ‘4vuurwerkveilig’ launched

4vuurwerkveilig is a digital educational package that effectively makes pupils aware of the dangers of fireworks and teaches them how to handle fireworks safely. Pupils in years 7 and 8 are not yet allowed to set off fireworks themselves, but the educational package gives them the knowledge they need for when they are allowed to do so.

What’s new?

This year, the educational package has been updated with the latest figures, fireworks regulations and tips, and new activities have been added. The package includes, among other things, a (video) presentation, quiz and worksheets with puzzles, experiments and a homework assignment. Depending on the teacher’s preferences and possibilities, one lesson can be taught, or the material can be spread over several lessons.

The 4vuurwerkveilig educational package was developed on behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, in collaboration with Brandweer Nederland, VuurwerkCheck and Belangenvereniging Pyrotechniek Nederland (BPN).

Our Food Week

From 3 to 10 October 2026, it is Our Food Week. A great opportunity to focus with your class at primary school on where our food comes from, how it is made and why healthy and sustainable choices are important. Food education allows pupils not only to learn, but especially to experience. That is why various organisations are joining forces to support schools with inspiring activities, teaching materials and practical tools. Examples include the Mayors’ Breakfast, a free visit to a farm, or shopping vouchers for cooking in the classroom.
