Pilots starting this year include School Streets, Every Child a Bicycle and Safe School Routes. Municipalities such as The Hague, Den Bosch, Nijmegen and Amsterdam have already started temporary (coronavirus) School Streets. The School Street is closed to car traffic fifteen minutes before and after the start of the school day, so that children and parents can safely reach the school on foot or by bicycle in the one-and-a-half-metre society.
Other municipalities participating in the Safe Cycling to School pilots are Groningen, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle, Eindhoven, Houten, Leiden, Amersfoort, Apeldoorn, Maassluis and Tilburg. The pilots are scheduled to be completed in spring 2021.
