The government must give sex education a permanent place in education by strengthening the mandatory core objectives for the curriculum. This will ensure that sex education goes beyond merely its biological aspects.

In addition, Rutgers calls on the government to:

Make sex education compulsory in the upper years of secondary education.
Free up funding for the implementation of the National Action Plan to Prevent Sexual Violence.
Teach professionals the right competencies to address violence and intimidation in the workplace.

These are some of the points included in the shadow report by Rutgers. The shadow report is a response to the Voluntary National Review on the Sustainable Development Goals, which the Kingdom of the Netherlands presented on 14 July during the High-level Political Forum in New York. The shadow report was written by Rutgers and is supported by WO=MEN and CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality.
