What a chef tells and shows children in a lesson about healthy, fresh and tasty food stays with them. Children who have had this lesson learn more about nutrition, dare to try more foods and enthusiastically tell their families at home about what they have discovered. The hope is that as a result, they will also cook more at home.
Recipe
Especially for the fourth edition of Cooking in the Classroom, this year's ambassador, Sandra Ysbrandy, has written a recipe for sushi cups.
It is a healthy sushi made in a muffin tin. All the flavours are hidden in the dish! The rice contains (sweet) corn and mango. There is a sour note in the spread. The radish is bitter, while the smoked salmon and soy sauce contain the umami flavour.
Registration
Registration for Cooking in the Classroom 2023 is for a chef-and-school duo.
- School – If a year 6, 7 or 8 group wants to participate, they will have to find a chef within their own network. If, after a thorough search, they have not succeeded, this can be done via this link: School is looking for a chef
- Chef – A chef who already has a class where the lesson can be given can proceed with registration. However, if you are still looking for a school, you can do so via this link: Chef is looking for a school
Cooking in the Classroom 2022 edition
Of course, you can also cook with the pupils at another time. A handy cooking video is produced every year especially for this purpose. You can watch the 2022 cooking video, featuring TV chef Sandra Ysbrandy, below:
Smaaklessen
Smaaklessen is the educational programme about food for primary schools, in which the teacher mainly asks questions. The pupils arrive at the answers by tasting and experiencing things for themselves. In this way, they learn all about their food through play. Chef Pierre Wind is the spiritual father of Smaaklessen.
You can register for Cooking in the Classroom here. If you have any questions, you can always email [email protected].
