During ModderDag children discover what mud is, how they can play with it and what the connection with the earth means to them. Hundreds of thousands of children at home and abroad are simultaneously engaging with nature.
How does ModderDag work?
You organise ModderDag yourself. Whether you are a school, childminder, daycare centre, out-of-school care provider or visitor centre: anyone who considers children’s play in nature important can join ModderDag and organise something themselves. You can register your activity via this website. IVN places all participating locations on a map. Registration is important in order to measure and demonstrate the impact of this day nationwide.
IVN also often receives questions from the (local) press and interested parties. In addition, after registering you will receive a link to the updated ModderDag materials, such as the poster, useful checklists and scripts. These contain not only background information, but also numerous suggestions for activities for different age groups. Afterwards, IVN will share the results with you, and next year IVN will invite you to participate again.
ModderDag was brought to the Netherlands by IVN in 2013. ModderDag in the Netherlands is now preparing for its seventh edition. Thirteen countries participated in the 2018 edition. You can find more facts and figures here.
