Under the motto ‘Let’s get outside!’, all schools in primary, secondary and vocational education can apply for funding for three activities: gardening, cooking, or an excursion or guest lesson related to nutrition.

The Jong Leren Eten programme aims to encourage schools and childcare organisations to introduce children and young people to information and activities about nutrition. This enables them to learn how to make healthy and sustainable choices in a practical way. The grant scheme is implemented in cooperation with the Healthy School programme. The grant is subject to conditions.

For the 2021/2022 school year, funding is available for approximately 315 schools. The schools most likely to qualify for the grant scheme are:

  • Schools that have not previously received a JLE grant (schools that have previously received the JLE grant are not eligible to participate).
  • Schools with high scores under DUO’s weighting scheme (this replaces the low-SES scheme).
  • Schools for special education (special and secondary special education).

Jong Leren Eten ensures that the grants are distributed among primary, secondary and vocational education and among the twelve provinces. In October 2021, all schools that have expressed their interest will be notified by email whether or not they have been awarded the Jong Leren Eten grant.

The ‘Let’s get outside!’ activity must be completed and accounted for by 30 June 2022 at the latest. After completing the JLE activities, you answer a number of questions at www.mijngezondeschool.nl and use a photo or video to show how your school or class used the grant. Once the answers have been approved, you can submit your claim via your dashboard at www.mijngezondeschool.nl. It will then be paid within a few weeks.
