Programme

The regional meetings begin at 13:00 with a plenary session on social safety. Which levers can schools pull to initiate change? Participants can then choose from 4 workshops.

  • Crime in and around the school: what should you do? - Nathalie Vriezelaar

Students who come to school with a (fake) weapon, who deal drugs or use snus, or who are recruited for a criminal job”; these are just some of the dilemmas and concerns arising in practice. In this workshop, we will focus primarily on your own practice and the dilemmas you may encounter in these difficult situations. This will be supplemented with useful and practical tips and tools.

  • Difficult parents? – Daniëlle van der Meer and Ursula Prinsen

How do you deal with clashes and aggressive behaviour from parents? And how do you restore the relationship after such a confrontation?

  • Preventing and dealing with sexually inappropriate behaviour – Lynn Louwe and Martje Heerkens

Sexually inappropriate behaviour at school can range from suggestive jokes or a wink to sexual assault or unwanted sexual acts. We will address the question: How do you work towards a safe school climate and respectful and proper interactions with students (with one another) and colleagues, and which School & Safety tools can you use for this? And if something unpleasant does happen: When does the obligation to report, consult and file a report apply, and when can incidents be resolved internally or with advice from the School & Safety Foundation?

  • Online behaviour. How does it affect social safety, and what should you do in the event of an incident? – Loïs Gampierakis

From ‘Guess the student’ or ‘Gossip Girl’ accounts, online challenges and hate comments to cyberbullying and the unwanted sharing of photos: online inappropriate behaviour can affect safety at school in many ways. In this workshop, we will discuss what harmful online behaviour looks like, how it affects safety at school, and what you can do when things go wrong online.

At 16:00, participants can take a moment to exchange experiences with the other participants.
