We’re going to bring the heat
In this Olympic year, Olympic Moves is also focused on the upcoming Games in Paris. The theme ‘we’re going to bring the heat’ runs like a common thread throughout the programme. In addition, students were welcomed at Papendal in the ‘Olympic Moves House’, a reference to the TeamNL House in Paris.
And bring the heat they did. Under the watchful eye of TeamNL athletes Roos Zwetsloot (skateboarding) and Joel de Jong (para-athletics), the students gave it their all. The Roelof van Echten College from Hoogeveen deserves a special mention, with more than 150 participants and an active role for both students and teachers in the organisation. In the newly added swim-run event, the big winner was Vincent van Gogh from Assen.
About Olympic Moves
During Olympic Moves, the focus is not only on the importance of sport and exercise, but also on the important Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence. Sport has the potential to have a positive impact on the lives of young people. In addition to the physical benefits, sport also offers young people opportunities to learn about teamwork, discipline, self-esteem and coping with victories and defeats. Start them young.
Olympic Moves shows how valuable it is for so many young people to get moving: new friendships are formed, participants compete enthusiastically, and students give it their all. NOC*NSF and KVLO have embraced the Olympic values together and demonstrate that students, just like TeamNL, strive with passion and dedication to uphold the values of respect, friendship and excellence.
Olympic Moves is an initiative of KVLO and NOC*NSF, in collaboration with the Healthy Generation. Since 2003, the school sports competition has grown into the largest school sports competition in the country. Olympic Moves gives secondary school students the opportunity to take part in various sports and enjoy them. Throughout the school year, participating school teams compete against one another in the regional finals and subsequently during the School Final.
