A record 1.3 million children took part in this year's edition of the King's Games. In the Netherlands, 93% of all primary schools participated. Many children at Dutch schools abroad and in the Caribbean part of our Kingdom also took part in the Orange celebration, which focuses on enjoying breakfast and being active.

Richard Krajicek, initiator of the King's Games: “Every edition has been wonderful, but I find this one particularly special. First of all, because more than 90 percent of all primary schools are taking part in the King's Games. It is also wonderful that during this two-day edition – in line with the theme ‘Everyone takes part’ – we are reaching virtually all children. At a time when playing sports and being active is more necessary than ever, that is fantastic. And the fact that we can also offer breakfast to one million children and help children connect with one another makes me proud.”

This year, the King's Games took place over two days on a one-off basis. As a result, children from schools with an adjusted programme due to Eid al-Fitr also had the opportunity to have breakfast and play sports together on Thursday.
