This year, in accordance with the guidelines of the RIVM and the government, no large play events took place during Outdoor Play Day. Nevertheless, to motivate children to play outside after a period without school and sports activities, Jantje Beton and Nickelodeon provided extra tips via www.buitenspeeldag.nl on the ways children could play outside safely on Wednesday, June 10. Last year, more than 1,000 local initiatives helped more than 100,000 children play outside to their heart's content.
In their own ways, both organizations thus offered a helping hand in creating games and play areas and organizing play activities. This year, too, the Nickelodeon channel went off the air between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
During this special edition, Jantje Beton and Nickelodeon collaborated with the Johan Cruyff Foundation and the Krajicek Foundation. These organizations have been committed to the importance of regularly playing and exercising outdoors for years, and therefore wholeheartedly support our message.
Outdoor Play Day
Outdoor Play Day is an annual event held on the second Wednesday of June to motivate children to play outside more often. The initiative arose from a collaboration between Jantje Beton and Nickelodeon and is being organized for the thirteenth time this year.
