What does the Healthy Lifestyle advisory group do?

The Healthy Lifestyle advisory group is an initiative of the PO Council, a partner in the Healthy School programme. Together with colleagues from the sector, you will meet two to three times a year to discuss social and political developments in the area of healthy lifestyles, and provide solicited and unsolicited advice to the board of the PO Council.

You will also evaluate existing programmes in the area of healthy lifestyles and discuss new initiatives relating to nutrition, physical activity, mental wellbeing and lifestyle prevention, among other things. Meetings of the advisory group always take place at a school that is working on healthy lifestyles.

4 March 2025: Burgemeester de Vlugtschool

During the first meeting, on the afternoon of Tuesday 4 March, the Healthy Lifestyle advisory group will be hosted by Burgemeester de Vlugtschool in Amsterdam. This school has a Healthy School certificate. In addition, it works with the Dynamic School Day programme and receives support from the Physical Activity Team.

The team at Burgemeester de Vlugtschool will explain to the Healthy Lifestyle advisory group how they promote a healthy lifestyle among pupils. Current social and political topics will also be discussed. This means that you will not only contribute to policy, but also gain inspiration from other schools and exchange knowledge with colleagues.

What are the benefits of participating?

  • You will meet other professionals committed to healthy lifestyles in primary education and share insights and good practices during inspiring study visits.
  • You will stay informed about political and social developments and the support available relating to healthy lifestyles.
  • You will play an important role in representing the primary education sector on topics related to healthy lifestyles.

Who are we looking for?

The PO Council is looking for school board members, school leaders and healthy lifestyle coordinators from primary education who have a broad perspective on developments in the sector. You are interested in topics such as nutrition, physical activity, mental wellbeing and lifestyle prevention. No specific prior knowledge is required; an interest in healthy lifestyles and education is sufficient.
