Pilot municipalities evaluate the Icelandic prevention model

On 27 May, the Inspiration Session on the Icelandic prevention model took place, during which the participating municipalities – Amersfoort, Hardenberg, the Kempengemeenten partnership (Bergeijk, Bladel, Eersel, Reusel-De Mierden), Súdwest-Fryslân, Texel and Urk – shared their experiences from the pilot. The Inspiration Session was organised by the Trimbos Institute and the Netherlands Youth Institute.

Each municipality had its own topic:

Municipality of Hardenberg – General experiences
Municipality of Amersfoort – School
Municipality of Texel – Administrative process
Municipality of Urk – Leisure activities
Municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân – Parental involvement
Kempengemeenten – School and leisure activities

The Trimbos Institute and the Netherlands Youth Institute are currently developing a vision for the broad implementation of the Icelandic prevention model in the Netherlands. From 2022 onwards, new municipalities or regions will also have the opportunity to start using this approach. Are you interested? Read here for more information about the implementation process.

Municipalities can already complete a non-binding expression of interest survey, intended to give the initiators an indication of the number of participants.

Once interest in participating has been gauged, it will be possible to officially register your municipality. The deadline for this is 4 October 2021.

Our Food Week

A great opportunity to focus with your class at primary school on where our food comes from, how it is made and why healthy and sustainable choices are important. Food education allows pupils not only to learn, but especially to experience. That is why various organisations are joining forces to support schools with inspiring activities, teaching materials and practical tools. Examples include the Mayors’ Breakfast, a free visit to a farm, or shopping vouchers for cooking in the classroom.
