With TeamNL Moves, students do not just compete against each other, but above all with each other. At the regional finals and the national final, students experience what ‘unite’ means: making new friends, playing sports together and meeting TeamNL’s top athletes. This way, every student becomes part of the TeamNL experience.
More than competitions
TeamNL Moves is about more than just sport. It is a journey of discovery in which young people have fun together, challenge each other and push their boundaries. In addition to the competitions, there are side events during The School Final, such as a climbing wall, e-racing, BMX, chess and lacrosse. From the preliminary rounds at school to the national final at Papendal, you can feel the energy everywhere. Results are important, but what really matters is that achievements, big or small, are celebrated together. That is create: trying new things, discovering talents and creating memories. And that is celebrate: effort, team spirit and enjoyment receive just as much applause as the medals.
Renewed range of sports
To remain innovative, TeamNL has added three new sports: padel, you.fo and fitrace. In addition, from this season onward, a sport can only qualify for The School Final if at least three full-fledged regional finals take place. A full-fledged final means at least three, preferably four or more, teams per age category. If there are fewer registrations, teams can participate in another regional final. If only one regional final is held, it will automatically be given the status of ‘national final’. The range of sports may vary from year to year: sports with too little interest will be removed, while new sports that appeal to young people may be added.
Increase in registration fee
The registration fee is increasing from 100 to 150 euros per school team. This increase is unrelated to the name change and ensures that all potential regional participation costs are included. Until now, schools sometimes faced unexpected additional costs for matters such as accommodation or electronic timekeeping, resulting in separate invoices and additional administration.
With the new amount, these additional costs will disappear. Organisers are nevertheless encouraged, where possible together with municipalities, to keep costs low. From now on, invoices will be submitted to and paid by the KVLO directly after the event. Naturally, any additional costs incurred must be discussed in advance with the KVLO’s policy officer for school sports. For small regional finals, the arrangement ‘travel costs for visitors and actual organisational costs for the organiser’ will remain in force. If components of a regional final result in extremely high costs per participating team, it may be decided not to offer the relevant component.
PE teacher is key to participation
The PE teacher is the key to participation. TeamNL Moves offers the PE teacher:
- A ready-to-use format that motivates students immediately.
- Promotional materials to increase visibility at school.
- A unique opportunity to help students develop outside the classroom.
- Support from TeamNL and KVLO.
How does it work?
- Registration. The PE teacher registers the team via the online system.
- Regional finals. Competitions in the region.
- National final at Papendal. A day full of sport, music, side missions and support from TeamNL.
Registration is open until Friday, 14 November 2025. The regional final can be organised until 17 April at the latest, and the national final will take place on 5 June 2026.
