Learning a healthy lifestyle at a young age is important for healthy development. Later habits are largely shaped by upbringing and experiences during early childhood. Children benefit when childcare professionals and parents work together to encourage healthy habits. The OK-GEZOND app is a practical tool for this purpose. It contains parent-child activities, animations, information and tips about healthy eating, exercise and sleep for children aged 2 to 4.

National Healthy Childcare programme

The app also provides information about the national Healthy Childcare programme. This programme supports childcare providers in promoting a healthy lifestyle among young children, including by training Healthy Childcare coaches.

Partnership

BOinK (Association of Parents in Childcare) developed this app in collaboration with HvA (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences). The content of this app is based on the results of the OK-GEZOND project by HvA in collaboration with Healthy Childcare, the Netherlands Nutrition Centre, NJi, Pharos, PPINK, the Amsterdam Childcare Branch Organisation, GGD Amsterdam, Knowledge Centre for Sport & Physical Activity, PLAYgrounds, childcare organisations (Impuls, Partou and Swazoom) and dietitian practices (de Zoete Appel and FitFood). The OK-GEZOND project was co-funded by Regieorgaan SIA, part of the Dutch Research Council (NWO).

The app can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store (Apple) or the Google Play Store (Android).
