The nominated schools are now known. The schools competing for the title are model schools for other schools in the field of developing physical activity policies. They not only teach their pupils to move well, but also offer them the opportunity to become acquainted with the sports and physical activity culture surrounding the school, in order to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, and they have incorporated this into their school policy.
On 10 April 2019, they will have a chance to become the ‘Most Sporty Primary School/Special Primary School in the Netherlands 2019’. For the seventh time, the KVLO (Royal Association for Physical Education) and NOC*NSF, now also in cooperation with Special Heroes Netherlands, are organising this election.

Final of the election on 10 April 2019
On 10 April 2019, the nominated schools will compete for the title of ‘Most Sporty Primary School/Special Primary School in the Netherlands 2019’ at Zuiderpark Sports Campus in The Hague. In addition to a stage presentation consisting of dance, music and physical activity, each school will present itself to the expert jury. They will be questioned about the school’s physical activity and sports policy. The jury will then determine who receives the title.
Prizes
The winner of the election for ‘Most Sporty Primary School in the Netherlands 2019’ will receive a voucher worth €3,000. This voucher has been provided by Bosan, Janssen-Fritsen and Nijha.
The winner of the election for ‘Most Sporty Special Primary School in the Netherlands 2019’ will receive a two-day water sports trip to Robinson Crusoë Island worth €2,500, offered by Menzis. In addition, Transvision b.v. will provide transport to this outing and on 10 April. Bosan, Nijha and Janssen-Fritsen will also offer the winner a voucher worth €500.
All other nominated schools will receive a voucher worth €1,250, also provided by the aforementioned sports equipment companies.
Alternation
The election for ‘Most Sporty Primary School in the Netherlands’ is organised every two years and alternates with the ‘Most Sporty Special Secondary School in the Netherlands’. In 2017, De Vijf Hoeven from Tilburg (see opening photo) won the election for Most Sporty Primary School in the Netherlands.
