Approach
The teaching package is available in the online environment Kriebelsinjebuik.nl. It is structured around four themes:
- physical development and self-image: the body, changes during puberty, being naked, sexual characteristics, media representations
- reproduction and family formation: reproduction, pregnancy and childbirth, prevention of STIs and pregnancy
- social and emotional development: forming relationships, gender equality and sexual diversity
- sexual resilience: wishes and boundaries, consent, difficult situations, sexual abuse, asking for help
Lessons from all four themes are covered in each school year. Based on specific interests, observations or questions from pupils themselves, teachers can select themes and lessons from the available teaching materials.
Time investment
The teaching package consists of 56 lessons of 45 to 50 minutes each. The lessons are offered in a continuous learning pathway from grade 1 through grade 8.
Explanation of the Recognition Committee's assessment
Kriebels in je buik is a well-designed, continuous learning pathway with a sound structure, in which the lessons recur and become more in-depth each year. The intervention is easy to implement, has high-quality online teaching materials and provides teachers with sufficient supporting materials and activities. Teachers can provide continuous feedback, and the intervention is regularly adjusted and updated in minor aspects. It does not involve high costs. The evidence base is current, complete and focused on the Dutch context.
