The aim of the study is to identify which factors are important for an approach aimed at preventing or reducing the number of students unable to attend school. The result will be a number of recommendations relevant to professionals in schools, school boards and collaborative partnerships. The research questions are:
- What types of problems arise before the Disputes Committee for Appropriate Education in cases involving students unable to attend school?
- What can be said about the causes of students being unable to attend school based on an analysis of the cases handled by the education disputes committee?
- Which factors give reason to advise school leaders, school board members, collaborative partnerships, teachers and support professionals?
- How do these factors relate to what is already known from the (scientific) literature?
The study began in August 2020 and will be completed in November 2020. The client commissioning the study is the Dutch Association of Educationalists and Education Experts (NVO). The project manager is Cissy Pater. Annabel Vaessen and Guuske Ledoux are also contributing to the study.
